Cemetario de la Recoleta

The sun finally came out after five days of patchy rain so I decided to check out the cemetery in wonderful neighborhood of Recoleta. I am still in BA and getting closer to the end of a fairly tedious process of buying another motorcycle. I have certainly learned a lot through this process, and I am very anxious to get on the road. Buenos Aires is a fantastic city, and although I consider myself more of a country mouse I could certainly stay here for a while.

Last week I enrolled in private spanish classes that I was able to customize for my trip. Although I studied spanish in high school and traveled in central america for two months, my spanish is rather rusty. We went over directions, distance, parts of the body, health, parts of the motorcycle, words related to travel and traffic and had conversations. It was worth while indeed.

I have been trying to experience as much of the city as possible, moving around the city on foot, train or bus during the day going to museums, parks and cafes then hitting the town at night with my partner in crime Roberto. A typical weekend night starts around 11 or 12 with a fantastic steak dinner with friends around bottles of Malbec. We make our way out of the Parilla around 130 or 2am and head to the club or bar where we dance and chat it up until the sun comes up. It is completely different than the American weekend night, from my experience. Running a bar/lounge in LA I was exposed to a lot of loud, obnoxious and heavily intoxicated fools on the weekends. There is less of an emphasis on drinking and more of an emphasis on meeting people and dancing. It is a bit of a sport...

I have meet some very interesting folks and I look forward to my return in a few months.

  1. Loving the blog and your photos. It's a nice break from an otherwise dreary existence in the salt mines. Keep up the good work and living the dream, buddy.
